World Youth International: Sports Amabassador
Jamie is a current ambassador for World Youth International, a charity that is passionate about giving the youth of today opportunities to contribute to global communities. This passion allows young people to be challenged, inspired, motivated, and connected.
During his formative years, Jamie’s life has been underpinned by the continuous help from others of different cultures and could not have survived living in England without this generosity and kindness. Due to this acknowledgment, Jamie realises that he must be part of the positive movement to pass his experiences and knowledge to the youth of today so they too can extract the most potential out of their lives.
In May 2019, Jamie will travel to Nepal to visit the youth in a hope to understand, inspire and impact the local communities.
This is the fulfilment of a life long dream to be able to travel and exchange experiences with the people of such a magical place. It is hope that this trip will positively impact the local community through establishing the Jamie Young Soccer Academy and further his understanding of a foreign culture.
Multicultural Development Australia: Ambassador
Jamie is a current ambassador for the Multicultural Development Association (MDA), a charity that is involved in welcoming new arrivals of a multicultural background.
MDA specialises in helping new arrivals participate and contribute to Queensland society, allowing them to embrace Australian culture, while displaying their own.
Having a Scottish and Sri Lankan back ground as well as living in England for 13 years, Jamie has had first hand experience with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures. He acknowledges that his life would not be possible if it wasn’t for the help and perspective of those people. He aims to raise awareness of those seeking asylum and refugees and the stories they have faced in order to arrive in Australia.
